Whether we care to admit or not, our planet is in times of great uncertainty. Big environmental shifts, social unrest, deep disconnection from ourselves, the Earth we inhabit, and who we truly are – honestly, we have never been more in need of a global awakening than the times we find ourselves in right now. When we look at the the world around us, I daresay what we witness should be more than enough to begin a conversation about the ways we have clearly become lost as a collective society.

Evolution, both for ourselves as individuals and as a species, begins within each and every one of us. When one begins to show up for themselves and rises out of the shadows, they gain the ability to shine a Light on the path so that everyone they meet can more easily follow. This shift within us is less about doing, and more about being. Putting the act of showing – through our own actions, reactions, and internal shifts in energy – above preaching to others our idea of what we think is the right way or the wrong way of living. If we can’t walk our talk, taking responsibility for ourselves and our inner world, then our words will always fall on deaf ears.

“Be the change you want to see in the world”

– Mahatma Ghandi

It is paramount that we never leave one another behind as we expand into the beings we were always meant to become – this rising is meant for everyone. There is more than enough abundance to go around, and the rising of another never takes away from the rising within our own life. Take everyone with you, lift each other up, leave no man behind. We each have something beautiful and uniquely ours to offer this world. Times like this require a (r)evolution of the entire human race, a moving away from the outdated idea that there could ever be a ceiling or limitation to what we are able to become as a species. The only ceiling is the one we have built for ourselves – and I think the time to tear it down was yesterday, don’t you?

When we stay in our small selves, we allow no room for our own growth. We live in a state of fear, whether it is perceived or subconsciously driven. Often this hesitation to expand or rise into our best selves comes from a fear of the unknown – “who am I without my traumas and my shadows? What if my darkness is too much to bear? What if those closest to me aren’t ready for me to shift in this way? What if it’s really hard?”

“Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up. This is the trick. This is what all these teachers and philosophers who really counted, who really touched the alchemical gold, this is what they understood. This is the shamanic dance in the waterfall. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering it’s a feather bed.”

– Terrence McKenna

Now, more than ever, the world needs your Light. This is a call to courage. To vulnerability, to jumping into the abyss. When you make the shift inside yourself, the entire Universe bends to your intentions. The traumas will lift, replaced only by wisdom. The darkness, when healed by the light of your own awareness and equanimity, and strengthened by the support of others, will never be too much to bear. And as you move into your new state of Being, the ones who are meant for you will begin to stream into your life like never before, and it will become very clear who is meant to walk with you on your path. Of course it will be hard – but I guarantee that life will be hard regardless of whether or not you choose to heal. It feels a lot better to struggle along your path of purpose and truth, than to struggle in the depths of darkness and disconnection. When you start to heal your inner world and seek to feel better inside yourself, this energy radiates outwards from your being and becomes intensely contagious and healing to those around you.

This I can promise you with every ounce of my Being.

“We are not going to change the whole world, but we can change ourselves and feel free as birds. We can be serene even in the midst of calamities and, by our serenity, make others more tranquil. Serenity is contagious. If we smile at someone, he or she will smile back. And a smile costs nothing. We should plague everyone with joy. If we are to die in a minute, why not die happily, laughing?”

– Swami Satchidananda

It is time that we RISE. We are each capable of starting a (r)evolution within ourselves that will demand that we all rise high above who we have been. Up, up, up into the beautiful and infinitely tangible reality of living in a more healing, connected society. The possibilities for us are truly endless, both as individuals and as a whole, and there are no limits to what we can accomplish if we let go of our limiting beliefs and finally start to heal ourselves and each other.

When I rise, you rise – we ALL rise. This is the (r)evolution we have all been waiting for.
